The only real memory I
have is not really a meeting, but more of my first
impression of Myhr in 1994, Las Vegas, my first convention.
I was wary, I was new, I was wondering who all these weird
people were. :-D
When Myhr first bounded
onstage, I thought, oh my God...what planet have I landed on
and where is the nearest exit! But, as Myhr does, he quickly
worked down my concerns and defenses and I found myself
enjoying his antics as much as the next person. Besides, he
was just so darn sexy! :-D
Yet, it never occurred to
me to care enough to wonder who was behind the mask til the
end of the weekend. I was asking a new friend I'd made if
she knew who the guy was that was playing Myhr. She said,
"sure!" and pointed out this quiet, unassuming. almost shy,
bearded fellow with glasses standing in the back of the
room, arms crossed, not seeming to be a part of the crowd at
all. I laughed and said, "no, really.... who plays Myhr?"
She convinced me it really was this Jamie guy, but I
couldn't believe the differences...Mr. Quiet Guy vs. Mr.
WildMan. Of course I couldn't have guessed it at the time,
but Jamie and I went on to forge a special, close
friendship, totally apart from Beauty and the Beast, that
continues to this day.
